PURPOSE AND SCOPE OF THE POSITION

The Clinical Educator is accountable for the planning, coordinating, facilitating, and delivering activities related to education, training, and development outcomes of the organization, working in accordance with established standards, evidence-based practice, research, and professional practice requirements. This includes but is not limited to optimizing, planning, organizing, implementing, and evaluating the day-to-day education and activities designed to meet the education, training and development of all employees, specifically and intentionally incorporating Jewish values and traditions into the education and training activities as relevant and appropriate.

More specifically, the clinical educator:

· Based on best practice, provides clinical teaching to the care staff, including allied health and support staff, as necessary and relevant to optimize team performance and the delivery of quality safe care.

· Participates in developing training and education programs, including the development of applicable professional practice policy and procedures review and development.

· Coordinates and participates in Quality Management of training and education to develop and implement quality monitoring tools that measure and define practice outcomes against standards and best practices.

· Promotes inter-professional collaboration among the care team, allied health, physicians, and support staff to develop and deliver training and education.

· Supports all staff in achieving ongoing continuing education.

· Supports and facilitates student placement in collaboration with the student placement coordinator.

· Collaborates with others as relevant and appropriate to develop and deliver the orientation program(s) as it relates to professional practice.

Collaborates with interprofessional team to plan, implement and evaluate activities related to education across the Snider Campus.

QUALIFICATIONS

· Current practicing registration as a Registered Nurse or Registered Psychiatric Nurse with the British Columbia College of Nurses and Midwives (BCCNM) is required.

· BSCN Required

· CNA Certification in Gerontological Nursing preferred.

· Master’s degree preferred

EXPERIENCE:

Three (3) years of recent nursing experience related to gerontology, including two years of experience in client education and/or group facilitation or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience.

PREVIOUS RELEVANT EXPERIENCE REQUIRED:

· Skilled in the principles of adult learning

· Documented initiative and commitment to continuing professional development

· Excellent interpersonal skills, ability to motivate and inspire others towards professional excellence

· Demonstrated clinical expertise in required discipline

· Demonstrated research skills an asset

· Demonstrated change agent

· Demonstrated writing and presentation skills

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES

· Comprehensive knowledge of clinical practice related to long-term care.

· Comprehensive skill and expertise in gerontological and long-term care and issues.

· Knowledge of LBHH policies, procedures, and standards of care.

· Knowledge of, and ability to, apply relevant quality improvement methodologies.

· Knowledge of other health care disciplines and their role in resident care.

· Comprehensive knowledge of adult education principles, methods and tools.

· Demonstrated ability to teach, demonstrate, facilitate and coach.

· Demonstrated ability to facilitate the development of critical thinking and clinical decision-making skills in others.

· Demonstrated ability to develop educational programs and material.

· Demonstrated ability to effectively apply adult teaching/learning strategies that complement identified clinical and quality initiatives.

· Ability to communicate effectively with co-workers, physicians, and other healthcare staff, either one-on-one or in groups.

· Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing.

· Demonstrated ability to function as a team member, leader and facilitator.

· Demonstrated ability to provide leadership to all staff and to enable an empowered and self-directed environment.

· Employs advanced expertise in the use of current computer applications to create and maintain a variety of resident care information systems (such as PCC), databases, documents and presentations and various educational technologies.

The hours of work, including days off and work area, may be subject to change consistent with operational requirements and the provision of the Collective Agreement and applicable statutes.

As per the current Public Health Orders (Long Term Care/Seniors Assisted Living Provincial Health Officer Order and the Health Sector Order), as of October 26, 2021, all employees working for LBHH/WR must be fully vaccinated for COVID-19. Proof of vaccination status will be required.

 

Hours of Work: 09:00 am – 5:00 pm - Monday to Friday

Job Types: Full-time, Permanent

Salary: $49.20-$63.47 per hour
