Aquatics Programs at the JCC

The pool facility the J offers a variety of activities for active adults and seniors. Swimming is one of the best full-body, low impact exercises available. Swimming targets every main muscle group and the magic of buoyancy provides additional support for the body, making it an ideal exercise for seniors.

Waterworks Aquatic Therapy: Warm water provides a relaxing and soothing environment for aching joints and muscles.  Water's natural viscosity or resistance can be used for muscle strengthening and injury rehabilitation. Aquatic therapy is beneficial for treating people with common conditions such as low back pain, chronic pain and arthritis, but it can also be utilized for treating people post surgery and to improve balance to reduce slips, trips and falls. This program is ideal for those with mild rheumatic disease (arthritis), minimal joint involvement, or those recommended by a physician. Must be able to stand for 15 minutes without excessive pain or shortness of breath.
