New Programs in Langley and Squamish Connect Jewish Children to Community and to Each Other

Our Connect Me In initiative has launched two new successful Hebrew school programs that are going strong in Langley and Squamish. Seventeen children are registered for the program in Langley and 11 in Squamish. They are amongst the many initiatives Connect Me In has introduced throughout the regional communities to make it easier for Jews of all ages to connect with Jewish life.

Offered over six sessions, each program is designed to foster a love of Jewish culture and religion, Hebrew language acquisition, celebration of Israel, and an appreciation of Jewish art and music. The Squamish program also offers bar and bat mitzvah preparation to older students.

As part of our Connect Me In initiative, Jewish Federation recently launched a new micro-grant program to enable grassroots groups in the regional communities to begin developing programs specifically designed to meet their needs. Two grant requests focused on offering these six-week part-time Jewish education programs, which have proved very popular.
