About Micha Biton
A pioneer in the genre of Israeli ethnic rock, Micha Biton brings joy to the stage through his original music and meaningful stories. The son of Moroccan immigrants to Sderot and raised as a foster child in Jerusalem after tragedy struck his family, Micha’s life story became the inspiration for one of the most famous and well-read novels in Israel.

Micha’s mesmerizing concert, Bein Sederot l’Yerushalayim, recently celebrated its 1,000th performance. He chronicles his family’s aliyah to Israel, living in poverty, the tragedy of his father’s sudden death, and finding the courage to forge ahead synthesizing his Moroccan roots with the customs of his new Ashkenazi foster family.

With seven albums of original music, Micha's songs and stories find their way into the hearts of young and old, from every background and in every corner of the world.

Micha is the founder of the 1990s Israeli band Tanara, which released its highly acclaimed album in 1996. His first solo album, Nosea BaZman (Time Traveler) appeared in 2005, followed by HaTzad HaMu’ar (The Lighted Side) in 2008, Neshima Amuka (A Deep Breath) in 2010, and his last release, Kmo Mayim (Like Water) in 2014. With a live album recorded in one of Tel Aviv’s most popular concert halls coming out in 2015, and the release of a new joint project of psalms and prayers with Lisa Silverstein Tzur, Micha intertwines the spiritual with the secular, and brings his message of hope and gratitude to audiences all over the world.

Moving from ballads to upbeat songs, Micha’s performances bring his audience from tears to laughter, and he leaves them on their feet singing and dancing.
