Taglit-Birthright Israel for Spring/Summer Trips

 

During the grey and rainy Vancouver winter it’s only natural to daydream of a sunny summer adventure in Israel. If you’re a young Jewish adult aged 18 to 26, you’re in luck: Taglit-Birthright Israel registration is about to open, and you could be on your way to Israel for a free, 10-day experience of a lifetime.
 

Taglit-Birthright Israel provides the gift of a first time educational trip to Israel free of charge to young adults. Jewish Federation, the Israeli government and leading Jewish philanthropists have partnered together to cover the cost of these trips. Every year, Jewish Federation allocates more than $40,000 from the Annual Campaign to send local Jewish young people on Taglit-Birthright Israel trips. This year alone, more than 120 young Jewish adults from right here in our community will participate.  They will experience a whirlwind 10 days of activities, sightseeing and immersion in Jewish culture, history and identity. Whether you are coming on the trip with a plethora of Jewish experience and education, or to unearth your connection to Israel and Judaism for the first time, Birthright has the power to be life changing, and to make memories and friendships that continue long after the trip ends.
 

Local participant, Ian Goodman, described his Taglit-Birthright Israel experience as “some of the best days of my life.  I quickly made friends with people I just met as we experienced Israel together. Whether dancing at the Kotel on Shabbat, experiencing Yad Vashem, or meeting IDF soldiers who were the same age as us, it was great to be able to share my emotions with my new friends. Taglit Birthright Israel is an excellent program because it gives you the opportunity to experience Israel with your peers.”
 

Registration for Spring and Summer 2015:
 

  • New applicants: Registration opens on February 3, 2015 at 7:00 a.m. PST
  • Returning Applicants: If you have applied in the past, but have not yet traveled on a Taglit-Birthright Israel trip, you will have access to early registration on February 2, 2015 at 9:00 a.m. PST.
